Deal service Groupon has launched a significant update of its iOS client, v2.0. The app now uses a carousel interface intended to make it easier to find deals. Images are also displayed in larger sizes, and in better quality.
The company is also inaugurating some underlying changes to the way it service works. New users are being promised better deal rankings, thanks to new questions which feed into the service’s algorithms. Groupon is also launching a loyalty program called Rewards, aimed not at shoppers but at merchants. The program is currently available only in 31 cities, but Groupon says it plans to expand its reach.
The app is a free download, and runs on any device using iOS 4.0 or later, though it lacks a native iPad interface.
