Nokia has announced “HERE” as its new brand for mapping and location services and apps. Currently available through Windows Phone, Nokia will now be expanding with an app for Apple’s iOS and an SDK for Android manufacturers to integrate the HERE map service into Android-based phones.
The company also announced a partnership with Mozilla to bring HERE maps to Firefox OS. Furthermore, Nokia plans to acquire earthmine, a company specializing in 3D capture and processing. The HERE app for iOS is expected to be available in Apple’s App Store in the coming weeks.
