Samuel L. Jackson is the first actor to join the cast of David R. Ellis’ Kite, Movies.com learned today.
“I’ll be doing a live-action version of that in Johannesburg,” Jackson told the site.
First announced in 2011, Kite is based on the popular Japanese OVA. Released as two halves, the 1998 anime was directed by Yasuomi Umetsu and told the story of a sexually abused orphaned schoolgirl, Sawa, who becomes an assassin.
There’s no word on what role Jackson might play in Kite, but he can next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, hitting theaters on Christmas Day.
