Music streaming service Spotify will be available on yet another device, as the company announced today that a Spotify channel would be added to a number of Roku devices in the coming months. Owners of the Roku 2 streaming box will now have access to the Spotify channel, along with the more than 600 other video, entertainment, and casual game channels available on the device. Spotify’s channel will also be coming to the Roku Streaming Stick today.
Plus, Spotify will be coming to Roku HD and Roku LT players for customers in the United States and United Kingdom. The blog post announcing the arrival of Spotify on Roku devices gave no time frame for the service on those Roku units beyond “coming soon.”
For Roku, the addition of Spotify adds yet another media service to a range of options its customers can access. Roku media boxes can also take advantage of the Plex Media Center, and UK satellite broadcaster Sky brought its pay-per-view video streaming service Now TV to Roku devices last month.
