Apple has released iOS 6.1.1 as an over-the-air update. The download is only for iPhone 4S owners, and is primarily meant to solve problems with 3G access reported in recent days. It should also solve some issues with battery drain and overheating.
The first beta of v6.1.1 was issued just last week, but Apple may have decided to rush the update since some 4S owners were having a hard time getting online or maintaining a connection. It’s uncertain in fact if the update contains promised improvements for the Japanese Maps app, such as navigation tweaks, new labeling, and more 3D-rendered buildings. Conceivably, Apple may have postponed those changes for the sake of critical bugfixes.
