WhatsApp today provided an update to its Windows Phone 8 application, adding some major new features and tweaking usability.
Most significantly, the app adds support for lock screen notifications for messages. This will make it easier for WhatsApp users to know when they’ve got unread messages in their inbox. WhatsApp revamped the Live Tile design, too, so it falls more in line with the WP8 design language.
The app also adds a new back-up function, mass messaging capabilities, hit “enter” to send, and a new screen for adding attachments to messages.
WhatsApp is a cross-platform messaging application that uses cellular network data to send messages.
