Huawei has announced the latest member of its Android line — the Ascend P2. Expected to hit markets in the second quarter of the year, the Ascend P2 is an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean handset with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display.
Labeled the “world’s fastest 4G LTE smartphone,” the Android-based P2 is said to be one of the first smartphones to arrive on the market with LTE Category 4 support for theoretical maximum download speeds of up to 150Mbps.
The Ascend P2 is slightly smaller display than the company’s flagship D2 phone. The P2’s 4.7-inch in-cell touchscreen maintains a pixel density of 315 PPI with a 1280×720 res for native HD playback. IT also features DLNA and quick charge.
With an 8.4mm-thick build, the P2 appears to lack a microSD slot but integrates 16GB of storage and a 2420 mAh battery to help power its quad-core 1.5GHz processor. Huawei has also focused on photography, adding a 13-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor and a dedicated camera button.
The P2 will go on sale during the second quarter for €399. Pricing and availability for the U.S. hasn’t been disclosed..
