GameStop’s vice president of merchandising and marketing, Bob McKenzie, in an interview with Eurogamer has criticized Sony’s business strategy for the PSP handheld. Mr. McKenzie pointed to a “disappointment” over the selection of PSP games that were released this year, compared to the higher number of games that arrived on the market last year.
“I think Sony did a great job two years ago in terms of coming out with a pretty good line-up of PSP offerings and I didn’t see that breadth of titles this year,” said McKenzie. “And it’s still pretty meaningful to consumers.”
Separate reports suggest the PSP has failed to live up to Sony’s sales expectations. The device faces strong competition from the Nintendo DS and iPod touch. The PSP Go is also said to be struggling to take hold in the market.
