Kodak this week revealed plans to produce Kodak-branded Android phones. The first phone will focus on a “rich” but simple experience for “consumers who want a high-end experience but aren’t always as comfortable using increasingly complicated mobile devices as they would like to be”. It will also include software to allow friends and family to remotely “provide help and support”.
A tablet and 4G phone are also coming in the second half in 2015, implying that the first phone will be limited to 3G. For design and manufacturing, Kodak has partnered with Bullitt Group, which also makes rugged phones with the CAT brand.
Full details of the first Kodak phone will be revealed at the CES trade show in less than two weeks.
