No More Heroes has been an exclusive series to the Nintendo Wii in the West for a few years now. It is a Japanese developed action game about a world where major assassins compete in a ranking tournament by seeing who can off the next best. Besides crazy premises, a unique art style, blatant pop-culture references, and excessive animated violence define the game’s reputation.
The reason the games stayed exclusive to the Wii was due to the unique capability of the Wii motion controller. Sony and Microsoft addressed that issue with the Move and Kinect last winter, respectfully.
Last year, in Japan, the first installment of No More Heroes was ported to Xbox 360 and PS3 with the updated graphics and classic non-motion controls gamers asked for, along with additional content.
Now, the US and Europe will be receiving a localized version of the game on August 16, 2011. Unfortunately, only the PS3 version will be making its way to the West. This version will include all the content of the Japanese version along with Playstation Move support. Japan had received an updated edition with Move support under a different title.
For the West, the game will be called “No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise”. Changes to the game from the Wii version include a mode where female characters have different costumes, slight tweaks to the battle system, HD graphics, English and Japanese voice-overs with subtitles, and a replay option that lets players go back through older missions and cinematics.
Reasons haven’t been given on why the Xbox 360 version isn’t being localized. Kinect enabled motion controls were not implemented due the game releasing before Kinect officially launched.
