Sony has revealed a new high-end soundbar designed for use in a home theater setup. The HT-ST7, priced at $1,300, is said to provide an “immersive true 7.1 home theater experience,” one which also includes audio playback over Bluetooth from a smartphone or a tablet, with support for AAC and AptX, and quick NFC pairing included for Android devices.
Inside the aluminum casing are nine independent speaker drivers, seven discrete amplifiers, and the use of magnetic fluid speakers and S-Master Digital Amplifiers, with audio processing being delivered by Doly TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders. While the company states that it picked every component for optimum audio reproduction, it says it also collaborated with award-winning sound engineers from Sony Pictures Studios to fine tune the design further. On the back are a total of seven inputs, made up of three HDMI, three digital audio, and an analog input.
Sony has put the HT-ST7 on sale in the United States today, through Sony stores and other electronic retailers.
