Acer is using its tie-in with the movie Star Trek: Into Darkness to tease a notebook with a sliding-hinge screen. The clip, which intersperses clips from the film with that of the notebook sliding down a textured wall, calls it “A Unique Notebook” that will be revealed on May 3rd, ahead of the movie’s own release on May 17th.
The clip provides little in the way of clues as to what the notebook is named, or even its specification. The Windows 8 branding at the end of the trailer could suggest it will have a touchscreen display, though not its size or resolution. The sliding hinge on the back appears to allow the screen to hinge like a normal notebook conventionally does, but also along the screen mount itself, letting the display rise higher from the keyboard, and be placed in a more optimum viewing angle.
The accompanying website provides details for the Iconia W510, Aspire S7, and Aspire V5 Touch, along with various Star Trek imagery, but nothing about the notebook in the trailer.
