Adobe has released the final incarnation of Lightroom 5.7, an update to its photography workflow software. The most important addition is a promised migration tool for people switching from Aperture or iPhoto. Apple is discontinuing both in favor of a new Photos app for OS X Yosemite, and while that will also be able to import Aperture files, it may not provide the professional-level features of something like Lightroom.
The code also adds the ability to view comments from shared collections on Lightroom web, and RAW file support for 24 new cameras, such as the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Nikon D750, and Sony ILCE-5100. Bringing the same camera support to Photoshop is Camera Raw 8.7; it can be downloaded by users of either Photoshop CC or Photoshop CS6. The release also includes new lens profiles.
