Adobe has posted final-release versions of Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6, which add RAW file format support for nine new cameras and an additional 30 lens profiles for correcting distortion and chromatic aberrations. The free downloads update the RAW support in Adobe’s various photo programs. The Lightroom update fixes numerous bugs, while the Camera Raw update makes a few enhancements to existing features.
The new cameras that are now supported include the Canon PowerShot S100, the Nikon 1 (V1 and J1), the Samsung NX5 and NX200, the Sony NEX-7, the Fuji FinePix X10, the Leica V-LUX 3, the Panasonic DMC-GX1 and the Ricoh GR Digitial IV. Updated lens profiles includ a number of Canon-compatible Sigma lenses; two Nikon-compatible Sigma lenses; Phase One’s Mamiya, house brand and Schneider-Kreuznach lenses, and Sigma lenses for Pentax, Sigma’s own brand and Sony.
Among the significant issues fixed in Lightroom 3.6 was a crash when saving a keyword to a file; some kinds of JPG files appearing to be unsupported or damaged when imported; a Mac-only adjustment to make Lion scrolling and mousewheel scrolling harmonious; tethering is now fixed with the Nikon D3x, and Publish to HD now works in Lightroom for publishing collections created in v3.3 or earlier, along with a number of other issues.
Camera Raw 6.6 fixes a Mac-only issue where clicking the “Choose target folder” button would freeze the program, a correction to the Fuji S200 profile that rendered highlights with a green cast, red-eye reduction now works for images converted to B&W, vignettes are no longer overcorrected, and the update also fixes two issues with color noise reduction using local exposure adjustments or extreme color temperatures.
The updates are free to Lightroom 3.x and Photoshop Camera Raw users under Photoshop CS5. A complete list of profiles and bugfixes is available here.
