Alan Rickman is set to star in Randall Miller’s CBGB, Variety reports. He’ll play Hilly Kristal who, for more than three decades, owned and operated the famous New York nightclub until a rent dispute forced the establishment to close in 2006. The real-life Kristal tragically died the following year.
Rickman, who last appeared on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, previously worked with Miller in 2008’s Bottle Shock.
Miller will again direct with a script written by himself and Jody Savin. The current plan is to begin production next month.
