AMD’s Radeon R7 250X show up at various online retailers, it’s not until today that AMD has officially announced it.
The Radeon R7 250X is a mid-tier graphics card aimed at a high bang-for-your buck ratio. The card carries up to 640 SPUs, and the GPU is clocked at a reference frequency of 1.0 GHz. Manufacturers have already brought their overclocked versions to the market, with frequencies of about 1.04 GHz.
AMD has specified the card to feature up to 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, which will run over a 128-bit memory interface at an effective speed of 4.5 GHz. That said, there will be versions of the graphics card with just 1 GB of GDDR5 memory.
Typically, the graphics card will consume up to 95 W, meaning that a six-pin PCIe power connector will be required to power the card.
You may have noticed that the specifications of this card are pretty much identical to those of the Radeon HD 7770 GHz edition, and that is because it simply is the same card. It features the same technologies, such as support for AMD’s Mantle API (when driver support comes, that is), as well as DirectX 11.2 and OpenGL 4.3. The release of this card is mainly for the purpose of making clear that there is a card from AMD in the price category.
The card should be available immediately, and carries an MSRP price of $99 for reference boards. Custom cards may carry a small premium.
