Google today provided a preview of Android Wear 2.0, which it says was developed with end users in mind.
Watch faces, for example, will be able to show data from other apps, such as fitness info. This leads to greater personal customization of watch faces.
Messaging sees updates, too, thanks to better handwriting recognition, voice controls, and keyboards.
Android Wear 2.0 will also enjoy expanded fitness tools, such as automatic activity recognition and easier music streaming. The platform brings with it support for standalone apps that don’t require a nearby cellphone to function.
Developers can download a preview of Android Wear 2.0 today, but the public release isn’t expected until the fall.
