According to The Hollywood Reporter, Australian actress Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, “Homeland,” I, Frankenstein) has joined the main cast of New Line Cinema’s sequel Annabelle 2. Meanwhile, Variety is reporting that Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman (SPECTRE, “The Bridge,” War on Everyone) has also been added to co-star with Otto.
The story centers on a dollmaker and his wife (Otto) whose daughter tragically dies. Twenty years later they decide to open their home to a nun (Sigman) and several girls from a shuttered orphanage. When the dollmaker’s possessed creation Annabelle sets her sights on the children, it turns their shelter into a storm of horror.
The script is by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle), with David Sandberg (Lights Out) directing and The Conjuring‘s James Wan and Peter Safran producing. The first Annabelle made over $256 million worldwide in 2014.
Annabelle 2 will doll itself up in theaters on May 19, 2017.
