Disney and Marvel’s small-scale sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp is headed towards a domestic debut in the $70-80 million range over the July 6th-8th weekend.
If early tracking holds, the film will easily open ahead of the first Ant-Man which launched to $57.2 million in summer 2015 – ultimately wracking up $519.3 million worldwide.
Set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. He’s soon confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission and fights alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
