Apple Configurator Gets An Update

Posted by at 10:12 am on July 3, 2012

Apple has updated its Apple Configurator, a tool used for mass imaging and control of iOS devices for businesses, institutions and other large-scale deployments. The new version 1.1 adds a new preference to disable auto-removal of app and profiles when a configuration is re-applied, a new preference to stop re-application of a configuration when a device is connected to the program, and miscellaneous fixes.

The program allows for easy setup and administration of iOS configurations that can then be assigned to users. Up to 30 devices at a time can be configured with use policies and standard apps and data, or customized for specific levels of users. The update improves reliability and ease of use when installing paid apps with Volume Purchase Program redemption codes, and adds an indicator when a profile cannot be installed on a supervised device due to a missing value in a required field.

The update is available now, and the app is available for free from the Mac App Store.
