Today’s Apple TV 5.2 update, released alongside iOS 6.1, adds a few new features. The most important may be the ability to stream music via iTunes in the Cloud, cutting out the need to stream from a connected computer or iOS device. Accordingly Apple has also incorporated Up Next, the feature first seen in iTunes 11 that shows what music is coming up and allows for quick editing of the playlist.
Another addition is support for Bluetooth keyboards, which should make it easier to search for content. Finally, users can now push the audio in Apple TV videos to other AirPlay-capable devices, such as speakers, an AirPort Express, or even another Apple TV.
Unusually, Apple also appears to have released firmware for a device identified as the “Apple TV 3,2.” The current Apple TV model is the 3,1, and first shipped in March last year. The 3,2 is also listed as the J33I, though, perhaps signalling an international version of the regular J33. Apple recently started selling the Apple TV in a number of new countries, which may have demanded a separate firmware/hardware release
