Apple late today release updated printer drivers for Canon and FujiXerox printers, scanners and AIO units via its Software Update mechanism. The Canon update brings almost all of the company’s drivers up to v10.42.1.0 and adds some new models as well, while the FujiXerox update changes the version on a handful of the company’s many supported printers to either v2.1 or v2.2, leaving most of them (including some new-model additions) at v2.0.
The Canon update v2.7, as obtained directly from Apple’s support website, weighs in at 324.08MB and requires Mac OS X 10.6.1 or higher. It leaves the CanoScan 5600F, 9000F and the LiDE 100 and 200 series (along with the LiDE 700F) drivers untouched at v1.50, but updates every other supported Canon device to 10.42.1.0. The update also adds support for the iX6500 series printers, and the MP493 series along with the MX360, MX410, MX420 and MX880 series AIOs.
The FujiXerox update combo file (v2.2) is 50.06MB in size and adds support for the FX ApeosPort-IV and FX DocuCentre IV line of printers. It also updates the FX DocuCentre C1101 series and the FX DocuCentre C2101 series to v2.1, and updates the FX DocuPrint 2060, 2065, 3050, 3055, C2100, C2110, C2120 and C2200 series to v2.2. Also updated to v2.2 were the Kanji editions of those printers as well as the FX DocuPrint C525A series.
