Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the publisher will release a sequel to their successful Assassin’s Creed franchise on Oct. 30.
During a financial earnings call earlier today, Guillemot said Assassin’s Creed III is the “true next generation” for the brand.
The Ubisoft CEO did not provide specifics on what players can expect, but noted details will be revealed soon. Guillemot did note that the game has been in development for three years.
Judging by the name, it appears Assassin’s Creed III might feature a new protagonist. The first game focused on killer Altair in the Middle East during the Third Crusade, while Assassin’s Creed II shifted to the Renaissance and assassin Ezio.
The adventures of Ezio was expanded in the games Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
The franchise has been a massive hit for Ubisoft. The publisher shipped 7 million copies of Revelations since its launch last November.
