Acer and ASUS have confirmed that their Iconia Tab A500 and Eee Pad Transformer tablets, respectively, will get an over-the-air update to Android 3.1 early this June. Motorola’s Xoom was already updated to the latest OS, which proved to boost its performance significantly. All three share 10.1-inch screens and get 1GHz Tegra 2 processors.
Aside from improving system performance, Android 3.1 will allow users to stretch widgets and support USB peripherals, among more detailed improvements. Acer promises an update of its own that will allow attaching USB accessories before this, and the keyboard dock already permits this.
The only remaining Android 3.0 tablet, the LG G-Slate, hasn’t yet received a firm date for the new OS other than that it should come soon.
