In a post on the company’s blog, AT&T has detailed the options customers will have when choosing a mobile data sharing plan. The new plans will be available starting August 23, and they allow customers to share between 1GB and 20GB of data across an array of devices. The company has also added a mobile sharing tool to help customers choose the best plan for them.
Under the new system, devices will share a single bucket of data. That bucket will include unlimited voice and text access. Customers can add up to 10 devices — including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and mobile hotspots — to a plan. All devices on a plan will support tethering for wireless access.
Plans will range from $40 for 1GB to $200 for 20GB as a baseline cost. Additional smartphones will add $30 to $45 to the plan, depending on the data option chosen. Adding feature phones will cost another $30. Laptops, mobile hotspots, and netbooks will add $20 each, and tablets and gaming devices will add another $10 each.
Customers that want to stay with their current data plans will be able to do so. Those wishing to set up a mobile share plan will be able to do so in any AT&T retail store after the plans launch in late August.
