Production on the much-anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron has started today as Independent Online reports that the sequel has begun filming in Johannesburg, where it will continue to lens for the next two weeks. As previously revealed, production is also slated to take place in northern Italy and in South Korea.

According to the news outlet, a portion of Johannesburg’s Albertina Sisulu Road was closed for filming today between 7am and 7pm. It will continue to be closed between those hours all this week with other roads planned to be shut down for even longer periods beginning Friday, February 14.

“We are excited to host Marvel,” Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tausaid said in an earlier statement. “It strengthens Johannesburg’s position as a worldwide film production centre with first class facilities and production support. It also has a very positive impact for the region and is a great opportunity for the city to be showcased to a worldwide audience.”

In addition to quite a few returning Avengers, Age of Ultron will also feature James Spader as the title villain, Thomas Kretschmann as Baron Strucker, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as The Vision.

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.
