Bad Boys for Life topped the box-office with the film pulling in $59 million over the traditional weekend and is expected to cross $68 million through the holiday on Monday.
The street had the film taking in $38-45 million in its debut weekend. The result is Bad Boys for Life” now holds the second-biggest opening ever for a January release behind only American Sniper. Plus, it’s also Sony’s best start for an R-rated film.
The film also collected $37.3 million overseas with the film to pass $100 million worldwide, all on a $90 million budget.
Dolittle was a box office bomb. The kiddie fantasy adventure debuted in second with $22 million through Sunday and is barely expected to reach $30 million by the end of the four-day weekend. The off shore box office isn’t going to save it. It has only $17 million in its opening international haul with a production budget at $180 million.
1917 gained another $22 million in its second weekend of wide release, the World War I drama using its Golden Globe win from last week to push its domestic ticket sales above $80 million.
