Ian Fleming. He’s the fellow who wrote the James Bond books and also who’s life was their inspiration. BBC America is telling his story in the four-part miniseries The Man Who Would Be Bond, which will premiere January 29 as part of the channel’s Dramaville slate.
Dominic Cooper stars as bbc-america-logoFleming, a mischievous playboy who dreams of becoming the “ultimate” man: a hero, a lover, a brute and the one who always gets the girl. As WWII breaks out, he gets a chance to prove himself when he’s recruited by British intelligence and becomes a master of espionage. Laura Pulver, Annabelle Wallis, Lesley Manville, Anna Chancellor, Samuel West, Rupert Evans and Camilla Rutherford also star in director Mat Whitecross’ mini written by John Brownlow and Dan Macpherson. It’s produced by Sarah Curtis, with Douglas Rae, Michael Parke and Robert Bernstein as exec producers.
