Andrew Bocking, the executive in charge of BlackBerry’s BBM product, has decided to leave the company.
BlackBerry operates BBM as a separate business unit now that it is available to BlackBerries, Android devices, and the iPhone. Bocking’s departure means BBM will fall under the purview of John Sims, who joined the company as recently as December.
BBM is one of the four central businesses identified by CEO John Chen as key for the company moving forward. Bocking was appointed by Chen’s predecessor, ousted CEO Thorsten Heins.
