Benedict Cumberbatch is dropping out of Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, says a story at Variety. Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain remain attached.
The project, said to be a very set-oriented ghost story, reunites Del Toro with Legendary Pictures, who financed Pacific Rim. Plans are for filming to begin in February 2014.
Cumberbatch isn’t the first major casting change to hit the project. Initially, Emma Stone was set to play the role that Wasikowska recently took over, but left due to scheduling conflicts.
