Anticipation for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther this week is reaching epic levels with forecasts for the film having been raised higher.
Tracking estimates now peg it at pulling in anywhere between $155-170 million domestically over the four-day President’s Day weekend. That would break previous record holder “Deadpool” which stormed onto the scene in 2016 with $152 million.
‘Panther’ is also well outpacing the Merc with a Mouth in terms of critical reviews with the Ryan Coogler-directed film sitting at a 97% (8.2/10) on Rotten Tomatoes and an 87/100 on Metacritic (compared to 83% – 7/10 & 65/100 respectively). It also makes it the best critically received Marvel Studios film to date.
The film is also set to open internationally almost everywhere this weekend, but estimates for its box office are more uncertain.
