BlackBerry today announced the availability of BBM Protected, a more secure version of its instant messaging platform.
BBM Protected differs from traditional BBM in that in creates a unique encryption key for each conversation, requiring a passphrase from participants. It offers end-to-end encryption in order to create the most secure IM conversations possible. BBM Protected is the first product in BlackBerry’s new eBBM Suite, which targets businesses rather than consumers.
BBM Protected is available to BlackBerry’s business customers starting today.
