BlackBerry laid out its plans to secure the Priv in a blog post today.
The company has devised a three-pronged approach to keeping the Priv secure in the face of outside threats. First, BlackBerry will issue the monthly security patches offered by Google. It will do so directly to handsets as well as through carriers and other reseller partners.
Second, BlackBerry will force feed hotfixes directly to devices — circumventing carriers — when critical flaws need immediate resolution.
Third, BlackBerry will give IT admins the ability to control which devices receive security updates and when those updates are delivered.
Blackberry said it is committed to maintaining the security of its first Android handset, which is available for order online.
