A whole handful of actors joining the upcoming Disney flick The Lone Ranger, set to be Gore Verbinski’s live-action follow-up to Rango, his first since Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. THR reports that Helena Bonham Carter (Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The King’s Speech), Dwight Yoakam (Crank: High Voltage, Dirty Girl) and Barry Pepper (True Grit, Casino Jack) are in talks to join the growing cast. We already know that Armie Hammer is officially playing the Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp his sidekick Tonto, and Tom Wilkinson as a “railroad tycoon”, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. Yoakam may be the villain.
According to THR, Dwight Yoakam will be playing Butch Cavendish, leader of the gang that attacks the ranger and leaves his for dead. Barry Pepper’s role, as he’s been typecast in for ages, is that of “a military officer” and Helena Bonham Carter, if he deal goes through, will play the “madam of a brothel who deals with gentlemen and scoundrels.”
The flim is panned for December 21st, 2012 release.
