The Boxee Box has just received an comprehensive update. The new firmware brings with it a large number of bug fixes and improvements. Mainly a new user interface that helps with playback of local files, but it now also fixes 3D viewing in the on-screen display.
Once updated, users will be able to tailor the Boxee Box based on whether they mostly access online or local files. An SMB client default was added in Network Settings, and users can now connect to hidden wireless networks.
There are more filter and sort options, quicker navigation in long lists and the ability to mark movies as watched. Reported crashes from uncommon video files or other causes have also been addressed with this firmware.
Boxee has promised yet another firmware update is due before year’s end, bringing with it major improvements to the browser, new content and apps and bug fixes.
