The Chromecast has gotten to be the default freebie item when Google wants to do a deal. It was offered through various retailers, not just Google, as a free item when you purchased a Nexus 7; and now, Motorola is using it to sweeten the pot on the Moto X. The Chromecast had been left out of recent deals that Motorola offered throughout the holiday season, but it’s fair game now.
The only trick is that you have to purchase your Moto X at full price through Motorola. That means it will cost you either $399 for the 16GB model Moto X, or $449 for the 32GB version of the device. Obviously, if you want to fully customize your device, you are more than welcome to do so; or, you can stick with the standard woven black or white. Once you have your Moto X all decked out, just add a Chromecast to your cart and use the promo code “STREAM” at checkout.
Since the Chromecast usually retails for $35, it makes for a pretty nice addition. The deal will run until 11:59PM EST on January 14th, which is this coming Tuesday. As an aside, that is the day that Motorola is making a big announcement in Europe, which is expected to be the release of the Moto X with full Moto Maker support in the region.
