Canon has revealed another for release next month, with a focus on social sharing directly through Facebook. The PowerShot N now includes a dedicated Facebook Connect button for instant sharing of photographs to the social network over a Wi-Fi connection.
Packed into the square casing is a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 5 image processor, capable of recording 1080p video, with an 8x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens. On the back is a 2.8-inch tiltable touch panel LCD, while the shutter and zoom ring around the lens replaces the traditional shutter button. A Creative Shot mode will generate a series of five artistic photos alongside what the user has lined up, providing a number of image style options, with another 58 scenes under the Smart Auto mode. Aside from connecting to Facebook it can also use its Face ID system to automatically recognize familiar faces and focus on them.
As a Canon Direct exclusive, the PowerShot N Facebook-ready digital camera will go on sale in September, at a cost of $300.
