Capcom on Thursday confirmed it will release downloadable HD versions of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X in the US this fall on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The announcement comes during the survival horror franchise’s 15th anniversary. The first Resident Evil, known as Biohazard in Japan, launched on the original PlayStation in 1996.

The franchise, created by Shinji Mikami, has sold over 45 million units since its debut, Capcom said.

Resident Evil 4 originally arrived on Nintendo’s GameCube in 2005, and subsequently made its way to other platforms.

The HD remake will include the original Leon Kennedy-starring storyline, plus bonus content that was available in previous versions of Resident Evil 4, including the “Separate Ways” epilogue.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica X released in 2001 on Sega Dreamcast and PS2 as an updated version of the 2000 title Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which has Claire Redfield as the main character.
