CBS has set the premiere date for Extant, a new sci-fi series starring Halle Berry as an astronaut returning from a year-long solo mission in space with an unexpected visitor, debuting Wednesday, July 2nd at 9pm.
The Mickey Fisher script centers on “an astronaut (Berry) who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.” Early looks at a series teaser tell us that the show will feature not only extraterrestrial intelligence, but human-created artificial intelligence as well. Extant currently has a 13-episode order for its first season, and will begin production in Los Angeles next month.
