Tony AwardsThe 2016 Tony Awards will air June 5 on CBS, the broadcaster announced Monday. The ceremony, which honors achievement in Broadway theater, will air from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. that Sunday. It is exec produced by Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment. This also makes the 17th consecutive year that Weiss will also serve as director. A host has yet to be named.

The Tony Awards have been broadcast on CBS since 1978. The 2015 ceremony, which was hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming, flirted with near-record ratings lows as it went against the NBA Finals on ABC.

The upcoming ceremony also marks a milestone for the Tony Awards, which are presented by Tony Award Productions — a joint venture of the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. It is the 70th anniversary of the event, which was first held on April 6, 1947 at the Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Ballroom.

The nominees for the 2016 Tony Awards will be announced on April 29.
