Sabrina Spellman will return to Netflix sooner than you think — and she’s bringing a little holiday cheer wither. Kiernan Shipka and the rest of the cast of the streamer’s haunting new take on the half-teen, half-witch will be back for a holiday episode, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale, set to drop Friday, Dec. 14 and you can check out a teaser below.
Here’s the special installment’s official logline: The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice–the longest night of the year–when families gather around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors–both welcome and unwelcome– you never know what might come down the chimney…
Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen and Lachlan Watson will all return in the holiday episode.
Sabrina creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, will executive produce the special episode, alongside “Riverdale” collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger. Aguirre-Sacasa and Donna Thorland write, with Jeff Woolnough directing.
The special hails from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions, the studio behind the series.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s first season, consisting of 10 episodes, dropped on Netflix last month. This special holiday installment is a surprise treat for fans, as the show’s second season — which was included with the streamer’s initial series order — does not yet have a launch date.
