Chinese Regulators Approve Nokia’s Sale to Microsoft

Nokia today said it has received approval from the People’s Republic of China to sell its handset business to Microsoft.

The deal, first announced last September, has already been approved by the European Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, and other regulatory bodies. Nokia competitors Samsung and Google had asked Chinese regulators to ensure the deal wouldn’t lead to higher licensing fees, but the regulators did not place any restrictions on the transaction.

Nokia and Microsoft expect the sale to close this month.
