The sequel to Universal Pictures’ 2014 break-out comedy Neighbors is already in the works, scheduled for May 13, 2016 and appropriately dubbed Neighbors 2 (at least so far), and Variety is reporting that actress Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, The Equalizer) is in talks to join the returning cast of Zac Efron, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. It will be the 18-year-old actresses’ first straight comedy.
The original movie about a young couple (Rogen and Byrne) whose lives were disrupted when a frathouse (run by Efron) moves in next door grossed $269 million, but so far, there’s no word on what the plot for a sequel might be or who Moretz might play.
The sequel will be written by Andrew Jay Cohen, Brendan O’Brien along with producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and returning director Nicholas Stoller.
Moretz’s next two films are Dark Places with Charlize Theron and Sony’s young adult adaptation The Fifth Wave.
