Two weeks after he was confirmed for the role, Christian Bale has dropped out of director Danny Boyle’s upcoming biopic of Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bale simply felt that he was not the right actor for the role.
Based on Walter Isaacson’s biography and boasting an adapted screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, the Jobs biopic recently revealed that Seth Rogen is in talks to play Steve Wozniak, although it is now uncertain what direction the film will take in Bale’s absence.
Bale was initially courted for the part back when David Fincher was attached to helm, and made himself available recently after Leonardo DiCaprio passed on the role in order to film The Revenant and to take some time off from acting.
Previously, Ashton Kutcher played Steve Jobs in last year’s JOBS, a film that was a critical and commercial failure when it was finally released in August after its Sundance Film Festival debut.
