Among RIM’s various product announcements this week at the BlackBerry World expo, the company has disclosed that co-chief executive officer has been appointed to serve as the head of marketing. The executive will effectively take over the duties that had previously been managed by former chief marketing officer Keith Pardy.
Pardy announced his resignation early in March, just weeks ahead of the company’s PlayBook tablet launch. The executive cited “personal reasons” as driving his decision to depart, though it remains unclear if the move was also related to discontent within the company.
Despite his new responsibilities leading the marketing department, Balsillie appears to be retaining his position as co-CEO and co-chairman.
