Comcast and Charter Communications have announced plans to work together on future wireless initiatives. Both companies already acts as MVNOs and resell service from Verizon Wireless.
Moving forward, Comcast and Charter will collaborate on creating common wireless platforms, developing technical standards, managing device logistics, and exploring emerging wireless technology by sharing resources. The companies believe they have synergy on their side to bring more choice and better products to their customers. Comcast and Charter say any MVNO agreements made with wireless carriers down the road will be national in scale, rather than the regional.
The companies will test their new relationship for a period of one year before entering into a longer arrangement.
