Comcast has quietly updated its Xfinity TV app (App Store) to add in iPhone and iPod touch support. The once iPad-only viewing feature is now available on the smaller screen size. Its new version now more directly reflects the channel lineup from home when watching in a different area, and more content is available relative to a given package.Users already had the option of using the app to remote control some Comcast set-tops and could queue up DVR recording when relevant. Content as always can be filtered through searches as well as by the category and whether or not it’s in HD.
Regardless of platform, the updated Xfinity TV app needs iOS 4.0 or later to work as well as a Comcast TV package; the title is a universal app and will still scale up to iPads. Streams are currently limited to Wi-Fi to keep bandwidth use in check.
