Does the world need a $500 to $800 remote? Well, Comcast thinks the world does.
At the Cable Show today, Comcast demoed an upcoming Xfinity Remote app for the iPad. See video below. The software will turn the Apple tablet into a control for the cable provider’s set-top boxes and will show a TV-style guide for changing channels or recording shows to a DVR.
It is Social Too
You can either chat live while watching a show or invite friends to watch at the same time.
At this time there is no word if the app will support viewing TV directly on the iPad or if it will support Xfinity’s streaming service. Currently the Xfinity’s streaming service requires Flash to work.
Comcast promises to have the Xfinity app available for the iPad before the end of the year.
