With Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald McRaney joining the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti western Django Unchained, the assembly of talent for the late 2012 release seemed too good to be true.
Apparently the universe agreed as a Twitter update from Variety reporter Justin Kroll announced today that, “Kevin Costner has had to pass on Django Unchained due to scheduling conflicts.” The actor was to have played Ace Woody, the right-hand man of ruthless plantation/slave-owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
Sad news for those who were anxious to see Costner saddled up again.
