Last month, word broke that cult director and “Twin Peaks” co-creator David Lynch was bowing out of the revival series that was set to air on Showtime citing issues with negotiations. Now, Lynch has revealed that the revival is back on and he will in fact be back for the series.
“Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem,” he wrote on Twitter. “It is !!!Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on Showtime.”
Showtime president David Nevins also chimed in, confirming the news and revealing that they’ve expanded their initial nine-episode order for the series.
“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever,” Nevins writes. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”
Co-creator Mark Frost and Lynch have reportedly already completed the initial nine scripts, though there is no official word on how many more episodes have been ordered. Lynch is set to direct every episode of the third season revival.
